Prince-bishop Julius Echter established the Juliusspital foundation in 1576 with a non-profit social mission.  

Ever since then, the foundation’s various social institutions like hospital, care homes, hospice and palliative care are still dedicated to his mission. The winery has been a part of the foundation since the beginning. For over 440 years, profits generated by the wine estate have always gone towards the social challenges of the foundation.

This mission makes it even more important to work hand in hand to strive sustainable and innovative for excellence and best quality.

The wine estate Juliusspital is with around 180 hectares of vineyards one of the most important wineries in Germany.
